Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah has reportedly refused to acknowledge National Award winner The Coffin Maker as his film.
A leading daily has reported that when he was congratulated for The Coffin Maker, which one the National Award in the best English feature film category, he was cryptic in his response.
He reportedly said that no film of his has won any award adding that he doesn’t want to talk about it.
Naseer’s angry response may be attributed to the reports that during the making of the film, differences cropped up between him and the makers after the film was halted due to lack of funds.
“when we were ready to roll again, he (Naseer) was unwilling to shoot. After a few meetings, he said he’d report back on the sets only if he was paid an additional Rs. 1.5 crore. Imagine his audacity,” director Veena Bakshi was quoted saying in a news report in February.
However, she has no ill-will against the senior actor anymore. She told the daily, “It would have been a pleasure to have him (Naseer) with us in this time.”
