SLB’s dream project Bajirao Mastani was in the backburner for many years until he finally found his protagonists in the current cast…

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan referred to Salman Khan and working with her Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam co-star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani, which currently has Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. Bajirao was Bhansali’s ambitious project that he wanted to repeat his Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam leads. However, a bitter fall-out and break-up between Salman and Aishwarya and all the drama that followed the film was almost scrapped. Bhansali’s original cast was to have Aishwarya as Mastani, Salman as Bajirao and Rani Mukerji essay Priyanka’s role of Kashibai. However, not only was Salman-Ash relationship over they did not ever collaborate after that for any project. And even Rani and Aishwarya’s friendship had gone kaput.

In a recent interview Aishwarya was quizzed about working with Salman in Sanjay’s film, to which she said, “Even at the start of this movie (Bajirao Mastani), there was a certain casting that he was looking for. If that was to come to be… you all know that there was a possibility of me being Mastani if there was a certain Bajirao (Salman) he was trying to cast. But if that did not come to be then we had openly talked about it. It is not something to think over… fret over. Every film has its destiny and finds the way it is meant to be.”

While Ash kept a safe distance from questions on working with Salman, the actress spoke about her special bond she shares with her Devdas director. Aishwarya said, “It is a very close bond that I share with him and because of that creativity we share close personal bond. My relationship with certain filmmakers is personally strong. And it is not only about work.” Does that mean that we will soon see Aishwarya and Bhansali collaborate to deliver yet another memorable film? We hope so!

Well.
